Edinburgh
Castle is well worth a visit . Situated at the end
of the Royal Mile , it is guarded by the Black
Watch. As you enter , notice the statues on either
side of Robert the Bruce and William Wallace . Turn
right and walk up through the Portcullis gate to
the Argyle Battery and a superb view of Princes
Street and the Gardens. Continue up the slope ,
past the Governor's House , turn left and you come
to the Upper Ward , entering by Foog's Gate. On the
left is St Margaret's Chapel , built by King David
I and dedicated to his mother Saint Margaret . The
Half Moon Battery features a formidable array of
ancient cannons and it is another great viewing
point . Turn left and then right into Crown Square
, featuring the Palace , the Great Hall , the
Scottish National War Memorial and the Queen Anne
Building .
