Castle Campbell
Castle
Campbell sits high in the Ochil Hills overlooking
Dollar. It can be reached by a single track road up
the hillside and a short walk. There is a panoramic
view of Dollar and the Forth Valley from the
castle. On one side of the castle is the Burn
(stream) of Care and on the other side the Burn of
Sorrow. Castle
Campbell was the main Lowland stronghold of the
Campbell Earls of Argyll from the fifteenth century
until 1654. Colin
Campbell, first Earl of Argyll, was Master of the
King's Household,Justiciar of Scotland and in 1483
Lord High Chancellor. Archibald,
