Reports had suggested that Beckham had been given permission
to attend the showbiz
wedding of the year
with his pop-singer wife Victoria. But it would seem
that Real boss Fabio Capello was not planning to give the
31-year-old former England captain special dispensation and
wanted him to remain in Spain to work on his fitness crucial
Champions League clash .
Beckham was ruled out of the Spanish giants' Primera
Liga clash with Racing Santander by an inflamed meniscus
in his left knee which had kept him out of group training.
And when quizzed about the former Manchester United
star's whereabouts this weekend, Capello said: "David has to
stay in Madrid to work." "David Beckham" , who is in
the final year of his contract at the Bernabeu, has failed
to secure a regular starting place in the first-team under
Capello. He is still to agree a new contract with the
nine-times European champions.
